Who are PHL Youla?

PHL Youla is a wholly owned subsidiary of PHL Group, a private independent healthcare provider, more details can be found at www.phlgroup.co.uk

Can I call PHL if I feel unwell?

Yes, you can contact the team on 0330 053 3739 to discuss how you are coping but if you feel unwell, please call 111 first. The contact centre is clinician led, so you will have the ability to speak directly with a clinician who will assess you over the phone. Medical records are shared with your GP practice to ensure that they are aware of your current health status.

How long do I have to have it for?

For as long as you feel it is helping support you to live independently at home. If your needs change, you may decide that PHL Youla is no longer the right system to support you and it may be time to look for an alternative method of support.

How big is it?

The hub is about 10cm across and each of the motion (3) and door (2) sensors is smaller than a matchbox. While the appliance sensor looks like a power adapter.

Who will be watching my movements? Is it watching me all the time?

The system is on all the time however, all the information is stored on an NHS compliant database and is used for no other purpose other than helping manage care and support for you in your home. The team looking after the service are fully trained and DBS checked to work across NHS services.

I need to speak to my family about it

We encourage you to speak to your family. If they would like to speak to us then please give them this number, 0330 053 3739 and we’d be happy to answer their questions.

What’s the purpose of the medical equipment?

When your installation takes place you’ll receive an oximeter, a thermometer and a Blood Pressure machine. This equipment is linked to the Youla hub, so when you take medical readings the results are automatically sent to the Youla dashboard, without you having to do anything. This helps us to understand how well or unwell you are. Regular use of this equipment will help establish your baseline readings and ensure that our clinicians can support you remotely.
